Dubious expedition show pieces

Last saturday  the Dubious expedition show at Leanna Lin´s wonderland gallery was opened. These are the pieces I did for the collective expo . Many other artists participate too with a wide variety of styles .

The plot for the show is more or less is as follows :
In 1876, led by Captain James Maury, the H.M.S Chimera set sail from the Port of London with a  charter to circumnavigate the globe for the purposes of collecting scientific and anthropological specimens for the collection of the British Empire.
Captain Maury was convinced of --nay, obsessed with--  the existence of the island kingdom of Jobogo: an archipelago in the Pacific that every other scientist, cartographer and naval officer of the time dismissed as mythical.  Maury claimed to have seen it at a distance in his early whaling days.
While other ships’ logs mention coming across the H.M.S Chimera during their own voyages, reporting the crew in good spirits and great health, the H.M.S Chimera disappears from records in 1877. In 1878, the ship and her crew are considered officially lost at sea.
In 1900, the H.M.S. Chimera returns home with a cargo hold full of dazzling and wonderful things, but only two crew members - the ship’s navigator, and the cook. Neither navigator nor cook were able to explain the contents of their cargo hold, or in fact - any aspect of their voyage at all. The ship’s cook was institutionalized shortly thereafter, and the navigator spoke of little else but the “glorious horrors” until he disappeared on a Scottish moor three months later.
The findings of the Chimera were quickly sequestered into the collection of the British Museum, and hidden away for over a century.
I used real vintage boxes for the dinosaur and fairy pieces , casted polyurethane resin for fossils and modern but aged bottles for the fetuses. Museum tags are as the ones used in the british museum as well as the red stamp that appears in the big labels for the boxes and fossils.

The Roswell incident. Alien embryo prop set.

In July 1947 in the town of Roswell, New Mexico, a flying saucer crashed with its crew.
The U.S. Army quickly closed the area and began a series of strategies of disinformation to hide this fact.
It is known that the remains of the aircraft and its crew were taken to a military base known as Area 51. Those remains are still there except this stolen specimen: the specimen R/01/RAAF , an embryo , probably a clon of this specie.
The prop set includes everything you see in the pictures:
A specimen of alien clone embryo , a sample of unknown alloy ,two reproductions of the first pages of the newspaper from Roswell (great for framing!!! and HUGE !!!) , various photographies , Fbi documents ...
The alien is a sculpture made with polymer clay OOAK textured and painted. No mold has been used in their realization nor molds has been taken from it. This is a unique piece that will never be replicated.
The box is a real metal vintage one with aerographed letters of the USA airforces ( USAAF called in this years)

Octavius Zedock specimen box.Abyssal merrow.

Apparently fishermen working in Peel harbour caught in their nets a strange-looking egg.
They kept it in seawater until hatching and tried to keep it alive.
The specimen did not survive more than a few weeks, as the stories of fishermen who kept it.
As it was a strange being, half human half fish, rumors soon reached the Theosophical Society, always eager for new examples of cryptids to study.
The Theosophical Society cryptids have been kept secret for years, but some specimens probably stolen, are appearing to the public.
The box contains the mummified body of the specimen, a bottle containing remains of the egg, a map of Irish Sea, photographs of further dives in the area and a document of the Society with a drawing of the specimen. Both the antenna and the egg remains still retain bioluminescence. The box cover is adorned inside by an original drawing of the merrow.

Tsantsa. Shrunken head of Horatio Hewitson.

Horatio Hewitson was Octavius Zedock´s expedition partner until literally lost his head.
He accompanied Octavius on a route through the Peruvian jungle in search of cryptids specimens for the Theosophical Society of NY.
The scientific group had the misfortune to be captured by the Jivaro with tragic end for Horatio.
Octavius escaped and brought the terrifying story of what happened in those jungles.
How the head of the unfortunate scientist was recovered is unknown. It is believed that there were new inroads into Jivaro territory by the Theosophical Society and somehow became part of the collection of the Society.
Polimer clay sculpture with real human hair and display system. All my sculptures are One Of A Kind (OOAK) .No molds were used to sculpt it so everyone I create is unique.
